We're trying to get the house in shape to have our wedding party, EEK so much to do, so little time, it's this coming weekend.
The room in the house that I need to have the party in, is the only room we haven't touched since we moved in LOL.
We call this room "THE GREEN ROOM" lol mainly because it has dated 90s green carpet in it. This room is so large and going to take a lot of time and money to update that we just closed it up, but now I have to get it cleaned and cleared out to have the party in, that is if it rains if not we'll all be out on the deck.
Anywho, I'm dividing the room into two parts one will function as the seating/tv area, and the opposite end will be a dining room. On the side where I"m going to put the sofa etc theres a huge bookcase that covers an entire wall. Rather than tearing it down I tried to update it, didnt like the color of the wood it was before..
Trouble was it's not real wood, it won't sand or stain with regular stain and we decided not to paint them so I ended up finding some gel stain that's like a paint, but looks like stain and applied it and it worked like a charm. I used a red oak color to darken them. lots of work UGH
Next we wallpapered the inside with anaglyptic wallpaper, which you cant see the texture of it in these photos because I took the photos with my phone. When I get finished i'll take some better pictures with my camera.
this is a before
this is an almost there After lol as you can see I REMOVED half of the shelving
was just too cluttered looking and spaced them out little further. This might change
again depending on what I decide to decorate them with later

its a dark and dated room thanks to the 90s green carpet thats in there
but i think the white wallpaper brightened up the backs
I ran out of wallpaper I still have to do behind the shelves above and below the window
yep that's a window in the middle of this wall unit. I plan on making a window seat
beneath it I've purchased the foam and have the pillows just need to find someone
with an electric knife so I can cut the foam down to size.
I cant' decorate the shelves for a while it takes FOREVER for the gel stain to dry its still
tacky after 4 days so who knows when I will be able to decorate them.
These are the two paint colors we have to choose from to paint the room. One is an Old gold color which is really dark and the other is sort of a creamy offwhite which I think we will go with. Maybe over on the far wall which you cant see in these photos, where the fireplace is we'll paint the deep gold color.
the walls are a textured chocolate brown color which is hard to tell in these photos
so will be a lot of work covering that up.
Tonight I plan on starting the task of recovering chair cushions for the dining table so
stay tuned i'll be back with before and afters of those and who knows what else...........
